A microcredential is a fantastic way to showcase achievement and recognize that a student took part in a program. These badges help students see their involvement over time and highlight their participation in SEA’s extracurricular academic programs.
Students can post their microcredentials on social media, and build a digital portfolio demonstrating their interests and engagement to prospective colleges.
Every badge has clear criteria set by UMBC instructors, departments, or respected organizations, so families can trust that each badge reflects real learning and meaningful participation. Each badge answers three things: who earned it, what they did, and who verified it.
Students also get: A UMBC branded “goodie bag” filled with surprises! In addition to these rewards, students will have the opportunity to connect with peers, have fun, and learn something new along the way. It’s a memorable experience that combines challenging, fun education with personal growth and lasting memories!
Closing Ceremony and Celebration!
Each Friday, at the conclusion of the session, parents are invited to a special closing ceremony where students have the chance to showcase what they’ve learned, win exciting raffle prizes, and share their experience with their families. It’s a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the students’ hard work and achievements while creating lasting memories together!
